National Timescales for Zero Carbon
This is an up-to-date list [last edit 30 December 2008] of the aspirational dates by which all new buildings will be zero carbon in the listed nations:
UK Government: by 2016
Wales (in advance of the UK government goals ): by 2011
Scotland (takes a more pragmatic line):
- staged increases in energy standards in 2010 and 2013 to substantially reduce carbon emissions from new buildings;
- the aim of net zero carbon emissions for space heating, hot water, lighting and ventilation within the next 10 years, if practical;
- the ambition of total-life zero carbon buildings by 2030;
Northern Ireland tows the line with the UK Government
